We’re the authors of THE COMPLETE SINGLE FATHER, published 2007, and published by Adams Media.

I’m Michael Shimberg, a single father of two great kids.

I’m his mom, Elaine Fantle Shimberg, mother of five adult kids, and an author of twenty other books.

Michael: "I went through my separation and divorce in 2005-2006. Some might say that being such a newly single Dad, how do I know what it’s like yet. While I know I have a lot to look forward to, this book is meant to help the Dads that are going through the transition that I just did. It’s not easy going from the comfort of a wife as a co-caregiver to you being the only one around. It’s a whole new world with a whole lot more responsibility. Getting back out on the single scene is not that easy either. This book hopefully helps you with that process to make the transition not only more helpful for you, but also much better for your kids."

Elaine: "We wrote this book because there weren’t many for suddenly single dads (either through divorce or being widowed) that talked about all the issues—raising daughters, cooking and carpooling, how to make a house (or apartment) a home, single dad dating tips, etc.

"We’ve also include "Tips from the Trenches" from 50+ other single dads—divorced; separated; never married, but raising an unexpected offspring anyway; and widowers to whom fate made single—single dads both young and old, wealthy and struggling, gay and straight, and those highly educated and those still working on their GEDs.

"Each month we’ll publish an e-mail newsletter for single dads. If you’d like to be a recipient, please send your name and e-mail address to us at our e-mail address, TheCompleteSingleFather@gmail.com."

Michael: "We also have a page called "Ask Michael," where you can get answers to any questions you may have as you begin the journey of being a single dad. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll get it for you from one or more of the many experts we interviewed for this book.

"At the end of the rainbow of this whole experience has been a pot of gold I never realized: a relationship with my children that is closer than I would have ever gotten before in my ‘old life’. Welcome to The Complete Single Fathar, where you can share your experiences as a single dad and learn from others."
